PRESS RELEASE: CENTRAL OREGON EARTH DAY CELEBRATION and PROCESSION OF THE SPECIES PARADE

The 19th annual Central Oregon Earth Celebration and Procession of the Species Parade will take place in downtown Bend on Earth Day weekend, Saturday April 19th 2008.

The Earth Day Celebration begins on Saturday April 21st with the Procession of the Species parade through downtown Bend at 11am. The parade can be viewed from Bond and Wall Street downtown and is open for anyone to participate. Staging for the parade will begin at 10am on Louisiana next to McMenamins. Come dressed as your favorite earthly creature (plant or animal) and join in the celebration of our planet. Please leave pets at home as well as any written signs or banners. Workshops are available to help get your creative process, they are listed below.

The parade route finishes at the Earth Day Fair located in Troy Field across from the Library, also starting at 11am. The fair attracts more than 5,000 visitors and hosts more than 100 booths offering educational information, products and services that lend themselves to a healthy sustainable environment. A plethora of interactive activities is available for people of all ages as well as delicious food, live music and dance performances.

This event plays a vital role in strengthening the bond of our community while celebrating our natural environment.

Admission to the fair is FREE to the public.

This family festival appeals to people of all ages which is why we are supported by a diverse blend of organizations including cornerstone businesses, community organizations, non profits.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available; add your name and dollars to an event that symbolizes the very essence of what makes our community so special. Sponsorship benefits far exceed the value for advertising alone and make a great compliment to any businesses marketing campaign.

The Earth Day Fair is a benefit event for the Central Oregon Environmental Center; A portion of the proceeds from this event are donated to the Central Oregon Environmental Center a local 501c3 non-profit organization.
